Meditation is a way of bringing our brain to a complete stop away from all the mundane things in the life. The world starts looking small and its difficulties start to vanish through meditation. It is the art of capturing the wandering thoughts and concentrating in a particular direction. It is fast gaining popularity in today's stressed world and it is the need of the hour to have peace at least in our minds.

Benefits of Meditation: There are many health benefits associated with this practice. Increased concentration, decreased stress and general feeling of well-being are some of them to start with. We begin to realise the inner peace in the midst of worldly chaos. Everyone can benefit from meditation and get total freedom from the worldly uncertainties. Meditating not only improves the quality of life but also gives many health benefits. Meditation can be said to be an inexpensive way of self-training.

The main benefit from meditation is that it relaxes us totally and drives away all the stress. This directly results in improving the health of our heart. Also due to stress reduction our blood pressure and other vital functions of the body start coming within the limits. Through meditation we get to know ourselves and we get to know the purpose of life in a better way. Many studies show that there is a change in blood pressure, activity of brain and also reduction in the blood sugar levels due to meditation. It affects metabolism rate too. Moreover many a times its use is seen in pain management also. Meditation may be practised for many other reasons like increasing psychological balance and also to enhance general well-being. Meditation in simple words is having total control of our own selves by the help of a suitable environment and also by breathing techniques.

Proper methods of meditation: All people try to meditate at one point of their lives or other but its effects are seen when practised for a long time. Some recommendations for beginners in meditation are:

1) Get up early to meditate or set up a convenient time aside for it.

2) Meditation can be done in any position not necessarily as a yogi sitting cross-legged. It may be done sitting or even lying down. It's just the control on mind that is required which relaxes the whole body.

3) Often meditating with a partner or loved one is a good practice. This encourages both of you and does not allow you to dwindle from the practice.

4) Light a candle and try to focus on it with your eyes open during meditation.

5) Slow music also helps to relax and concentrate more.

6) Always be grateful for getting the chance to meditate as it really boosts the feeling of well-being. Thus if small things are taken care of meditation turns out to be a wonderful experience. Our levels in meditation can go on increasing and we start gaining more and more control on our mind.

Some important things to remember while meditating are:

1) Let there be no disturbance for the time you meditate. It's always better to meditate in the mornings.

2) The posture should be correct and the spine should be straight this leads to a well balanced body hence resulting in a good mental balance

3) It takes time to fully focus and hence don't become desperate to achieve results

4) The proper way of controlling our mind is to pay attention to our breath take a deep breath and start meditating it's always good to count the breaths taken and hence concentrate on them.

5) Moreover let the worries of the world disappear and let all the positive energies come to you via meditation.

With the hectic life of today, everyone is running and no one has the time for each other. Yes meditation has to gain its importance now. It not only helps us in our physical well-being but also makes our spiritual self strong which is now under pressure of earning money and showing success in different fields. Everyone has forgotten why we are here and the worth of our own selves has been buried deep under the mass of worldly pleasures.Hence meditation is a small way to attain total spirituality. Moreover it will help the mind and soul to be relaxed and come out of the world of unreality to the real true world of God. So let's go towards meditation and realise the true value of ourselves.
